Vintage Citizen 1981 Independence Bowl watch NCAA Football Texas. May have been a watch issued to players, but not sure. Watch features a gold-tone case & champagne dial. Dial has luminous hands & indices, day/date indicator & is marked, "Independence Bowl, Shreveport," & "P-Japan-P, 1400." Case back is marked, "Citizen Watch Co., Water Resistant, Base Metal Top, Stainless Steel Back, 4-140222 Y, 10800302, 45-5261, GN-4W-S, Japan." Based on tserial number / movt., watch was made in August 1981 (or 1971, 1991). Logo is pre-1984 so assumption is watch was made for the 1981 Independence Bowl. Game was played on 12/12/81 with TX A&M defeating OSU. Watch case measures approx. 35m across excluding crown, & watch with band should fit a max wrist size of approx. 7 3/4". Watch is in good vintage condition with a scratch-free crystal & scuffs/scratches to case and band. Also has some dings around bezel. Watch has a new battery, keeping time & day/date indicator is functioning as it should.
