Way cool mid-century bookends depicting a fly fisherman netting a catch. Detail is great in his waders and his creel, but I had hoped to see some lures stuck in his hat. Especially inviting about this set is the pieces are mirror-image of each other.These bookends are not often seen, and particularly rare is a set that includes original fishing lines, undamaged. You just insert the reel end through his fist and hook the other end in a hole in the top of the base. Easy to remove and re-install for shipping or handling.Solid cast bronze by Russwood, their mark on the backs, along with the date of 1946, as well as original labels still on the bottoms.Condition could not be better.5 3/8 inches to the top of his hat; 6 1/4 inches to the top of the arc of the line; 6 inches side to side; 2 1/2 inches front to back. And reasonably heavy at 2 3/4 pounds EACH PIECE.Perfect gift for the fly fisherman in your family.
