Not sure on the year. Definitely old. Probably 50 years or more. Vintage tool.
In relief on the handle it says "501 The Woldert Co Tyler Tex"
On the base, in raised print, it says "MOD 500"
On the other side of the base, in raised print, it says "Squirrel Nutcracker"
On one side of the mechanism, in raised print, it says "502"
Two indentions to hold the nut from each end, then a lever with a sawtooth guide to close the gap and crack the nut.
This thing is heavy for it's size. Seems like galvanized metal. I could weigh it for you if interested. In full capacity, it's almost 12" long from tip of handle to end of wing nut.
You know how the say, "they don't make things like they used to." ? Well that's the case with this gizmo. It's well made and has stood the test of time. If you like antique tools, this is a neat one.
