For your consideration is this vintage butter pitcher made in Japan. As shown in the 1961 Sears Christmas Wishbook, this piece was available for sale during the early 1960s and referred to as "Rockinghamware-Type". This piece is traditional imported redware and has a lustrous high glaze. There is a raised Crowing Rooster or Chicken on a Red Roof motif on the front and it reads "Butter" above the rooster. This motif is cold painted and the paint has held up remarkably well over the years. The bottom is marked which appears to be a common mark for Japanese exports during the early and mid part of the 20th century. The pitcher measures 2.7 inches in diameter x 3.7 inches tall and has a capacity of approximately 2 to 3 fluid ounces. it is void any chips, cracks or abrasions. A lovely novelty crockery piece to add to your breakfast table.
