This is an original WWII-era Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI) for the U.S. Army 48th Infantry Regiment, also known as the “Dragoons.”
The front features the officially recognized crest: a gold lion on a black and blue shield, with a white chevron and a scroll reading “DRAGOONS.”
The pin is made of die-struck brass with a gold wash and enamel detail. The reverse has a toggle locking C-clasp, a style used prior to 1955, confirming its WWII-era authenticity. Measures 1 1/4" long and 1" wide.
No maker’s mark is present, which is typical for insignia of this period that were either issued or authorized for wear and privately purchased at PXs.
This is not a reproduction—it is a genuine U.S. military piece with excellent vintage condition and secure hardware.
This pin is highly collectible and perfect for historians, WWII memorabilia collectors, or those preserving the legacy of the U.S. Army's armored and infantry forces.
