Overview: Up for sale is this very neat Japanese woodblock print by the prolific Japanese printmaker, Eiichi Kotozuka. The print is titled "Sarusawa-no-Ike" and depicts the famous Sarusawa Pond in Nara, Japan. This print was produced as part of the series, "Collection of Color Prints with Views of Kyoto, Nara, Osaka and Kobe" in 1957 and published by Uchida. It contains Kotozuka's seal at lower left. Kotozuka was born in Kyoto and one of the major forces in the shin hanga movement. He, along with Tokuriki, Tobei and Tasaburo formed the Koryokusha publishing company in an effort to break free of the major publishing companies. This is a beautiful little piece that would make a fine addition to any Japanese woodblock collection. It is matted in its original folio but unframed.
Condition: The print and matting are in excellent condition.
Measurements: Print measures approximately 6.75 inches wide x 5 inches high. Matting measures approximately 9.125 inches wide x 6.875 inches high.
