Lord Nelson Ware, made in Staffordshire, England by started by Elijah Cotton. The company became known for their jugs, but also specialized in chintz ware. Chintz patterns were introduced by the company in 1931 and continued production until the 1950's. The chintz pottery transfer ware was produced with a lithographed textile-like print applied by hand over glazed ware versus hand painting. The Royal Brocade pattern was introduced in the 1930s and shows a periwinkle blue centered tan flower with leaves against a rich maroon color; gilt trimmed. Beautiful addition for the chintz ware collector.
Estate find in good vintage condition; grazing with no chips or repairs. The creamer show use with two interior brown spots (pictured); both pieces show minor wear to the gilt trim. Lord Nelson Ware BCM (British Commercial Monomarks) stamped on underside. Measures approx: creamer, 2.5" H 4.75" W; sugar 2.5"H 3" W
